How much is too much snow?

Feb 12-19 at the Durrand Glacier Lodge:

Andrew came for the week! YAY!

When it snows as much as it did:

you do some creative things... and some not so creative things....

we shovelled a lot of snow.....
we worked hard up at the school house..

we skied thigh deep powder...

we also did some more extreme snowshoe cliff jumping.... I improved onto flips!

we began construction of a snow cave house/disco/happy hour bar....

We ate a lot of delicious food

The blue skies  finally came out for our last day before my one week off and Andrew's first week done.

a link to some of Andrew's photos: HERE

I am off to Vail Colorado to spend some time wit my dad and ski some more!

Durrand Glacier School of Higher Education

Another morning ski tour to start the day off! It was think fog until we reached the peak of moonhill and then it was sunny for our descent.

Check out the blog for the school. Florina put it together!

Week Two at The Durrand Glacier

We are working hard up here at the Durrand Glacier School. We have added three more subjects to our days of school. We now have bio12, french11, english11, socials11, and physics11... phew... and of course PE (pretty important). I am learning lots, and it is all confirming that teaching is what I really like to do. It really is a great job for me. Also living in the mountains, surrounded by nature is cleansing, and refreshing. It is not perfect as I am missing my other half (which I think about all the time)...

On the weekend we got out with the guests and hit up a nice loop on the Durrand Glacier. We stopped by a natural ice cave (the mouth of the glacier). It is spectacular...  we plan to bring our ice skates on a ski tour to the ice cave and skate in the cave...

This morning we did a ski tour before school and it was a great way to start the day!

I love the mountains!

Updates on fitness, school, and the mountain life

All is well up here in the selkirk mountains...

school has started out well and strong and we are getting through things at a lightning pace as we love to get in a solid couple of hours of PE (ski touring)... It is so nice to be able to put your skis on and in less than an hour have some epic powder turns back.

I also have a mission with the boulder cage in the school room... I have lost my bouldering skills and now have set myself some goals to get it back....
